B&A Donates £3,750 to Severn Beach Village Hall Refurbishment

Bristol & Avon Group were delighted to present the Severn Beach Village Hall Committee with £3,750 to aid in the refurbishment of the hall for the enjoyment of the local community. Our friends at Mountpark Logistics also gave a generous donation to help move the project forward.

A much-needed refreshment

The plan to improve the facilities at the village hall, located in Severn Beach, Gloucestershire, will benefit the local community, providing a much needed refreshment to the space where villagers can gather together for a variety of events and activities.

The village hall was built in 1974, after years of planning and fundraising. Over the years, much work has been done to improve the hall, including two extensions, new windows and a revarnished floor as well as a newly improved outdoor play area.

Activities, clubs and gatherings

The hall is used throughout the week for a variety of activities, clubs and gatherings. Regular clubs include the community library, Zumba, Yoga-Lattes, Tang Soo Doo, Bingo, over 50’s club, parent and toddler group and a village history group. It is also available to the local community for event hire. The hall plays host to various events each summer as part of the Severn Vale Festival, as well as regular craft fairs and pub nights. Part of the refurbishment includes a fresh coat of paint for the hall, as well as new curtains for the hall and stage. The next phase will be to refurbish the stage itself.

Gillian Cox, from the Village Hall Committee, said:

“Local people that use the hall and its facilities all comment on how much fresher and cleaner the hall now looks.”

B&A group are thrilled to be able to support such an important community resource. We look forward to seeing how the refurbishment progresses and flourishes in the coming months.
