South Gloucestershire Show For Meningitis Now
The combined team of Bristol and Avon and Meningitis now had a fantastic time at the South Gloucestershire show last weekend. We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who visited our stand especially local boy Comedian Joel Dommett and Lisa Snowdon. Both donated wonderful prizes to help us raise money for Meningitis Now, Joel two tickets and a meet and greet for his stand-up show at the Colston Hall in September and Lisa a memento from her time on I’m a Celebrity.
Both Joel and Lisa were very generous with their time, we hope they enjoyed the show as much as we did.
Lisa Snowdon: Ambassador for Meningitis Now:
Lisa had a very personal reason for supporting us at the show as she contracted viral meningitis in 2010. Lisa is keen to raise awareness of the disease so that others do not need to go through the same ordeal. Speaking about her experience she said; ‘I am fortunate enough to know about the fantastic work Meningitis Now does, I want to help the charity to spread awareness to make sure that anyone affected knows where to turn to, to get the help and support they need’.
Lisa held a Silent Auction offering a fabulous memento of her time on I’m a Celebrity. The star signed by all her campmates include Scarlett Moffatt, Carol Vorderman, Larry Lamb and of course Joel Dommett.
Over 29,000 people visited this year’s event and all contributed to making it a truly fantastic weekend a lot of fun was had by all.
On the Sunday Joel drew the 40 winners of our luxury raffle, although donations are still coming in, so far, we have raised a staggering £7,652. Thank you to everyone who supported us in this raffle.
Bristol and Avon would like to thank all those at the South Gloucestershire Show particularly Darren, Sarah and the team for the opportunity they have given us in helping us towards our pledge of raising £100,000 for Meningitis Now. We would also like to thank old friends and new, including the Kenny Group, Alun Griffiths Ltd, Foundation Developments, SBMC Business Management, Venture Insurance Brokers, Bristol Hose and Renelec to name a few who have supported us in our quest.
