Materials reuse project
Reuse of Materials under CL:AIRE DoW CoP

The CL:AIRE DoW CoP was written to provide a clear, consistent and industry lead process to allow the movement of excavated materials between sites and their subsequent reuse. Use of the DoW CoP helps to promote the sustainable and cost-effective development of land and provides an alternative option to Environmental Permits or Waste Exemptions. Allowing the transfer and reuse of suitable soils between sites gives economic, environmental and social benefits.

Sustainable development in Bristol and the South West

We have two independent Qualified Persons who review all the supporting information and Materials Management Plan (MMP) on behalf of the B&A project team. Whether it's sustainable construction development, land remediation or more, At B&A we manage the complete process for you, from initial overview through to writing and administering the Materials Management Plan and then undertaking the movement and placement.

What is CL:AIRE DoW Cop?

Originally launched in September 2008, the CL:AIRE DoW CoP has worked to significantly increase the sustainability of land remediation and brownfield redevelopment projects and has become an accepted method for intelligent materials management.

The DoW CoP enables:

  • the direct transfer and reuse of clean naturally occurring soil materials between sites
  • the conditions to support the establishment/operation of fixed soil treatment facilities
  • the reuse of both contaminated/uncontaminated materials on their site of origin and between sites within defined Cluster projects

What Projects May Require Reuse of Materials under CL:AIRE DoW CoP?

We offer our reuse of materials services across the South West of England and South Wales and have assisted a range of project types, including:

Beggar's Bush project
Beggar's Bush - Bristol Bears

The B&A Group were appointed to take over the development of Kingcott Farmland into sports grounds including 4 sports pitches in 2016. Importation of fill material was part of engineering works approved as part of the development for the new training facility for Bristol Bears Rugby. The importation of approximately 115,000m3 of suitable material was granted an Environmental Recovery Permit, which saw the construction of the 4 pitches in a stepped design.
