Supporting the community

It’s important to us, as an influential business in the South West, to work alongside our local community and to offer support wherever we can. At the moment, we’re committed to working with some great charities, but we also love to work with local groups and teams to help them achieve all they’re capable of. Below we’ve listed the organisations we are very happy to have recently developed relationships with:

Stoke Lane AFC Under 15s

Stoke Lane is currently in their fourth season in the Avon youth league. They were formed by current managers Ian Sweeten and Neil Hopes when their boys were released by Stoke Lanes first team after the team had to split into two teams to go into the new 9 aside league. They managed to sign the required amount of players with the help of Bristol and Avon employee Chris Studley, who’s son signed on and brought other players to the club and the team were entered into Division 5 of the Avon Youth League.

The team managed to finish runners up in their first season and gained promotion to Division 4. Success followed again the following season where they again managed to finish runners up and were again promoted to Division 3.

The following season proved a little more difficult and the team finished third from bottom in the table, which would normally mean that they stayed in the Division, but due to some league changes they were unfortunately relegated. This led to several players leaving to play a higher standard of football, but the boys managed to persuade some ex Stoke Lane players and some other players to sign on and once again we had a full strength team to start the season.

The team are currently in the top half of the league table and the team are playing some excellent football.

We at Stoke Lane would like to express our sincere thanks to Bristol and Avon for sponsoring our fantastic jackets, which make the boys look so professional on both match days and training.

Synwell Amateur Boxing Club

Bristol & Avon has been a keen supporter and enthusiastic sponsor of the club based in Wotton Under Edge, Gloucestershire for over 20 years. Company Director, Aidan Berkely has been involved with Synwell since starting as an 11yr old Junior and later, as a senior boxer. Aidan is now a full ABA coach and is involved in the training of young boxers and hopeful future champions.

“The support from Bristol & Avon has been constant and deeply appreciated by club members, supplying much needed gym equipment and clothing. The purchase of a mini bus was a major factor, enabling the boxers to travel countrywide to compete. With the support of Bristol & Avon, the club is now thriving, ensuring it’s future and that of the local youth who benefit in the physical and mental discipline required to participate in the sport”
