B&A Group invests in cutting-edge crusher
Bristol and Avon Group (B&A) has introduced the very latest in crushing and screening technology at its £7 million aggregates recycling facility in Hallen, near Bristol.
The family-owned company has become one of the first major waste and transport firms to take delivery of a Premiertrak R400X from heavy plant specialist Powerscreen.
Launched last year, the cutting-edge crushing machine is one of the strongest in the Powerscreen range and processes recovered aggregates such as brick and concrete into high quality end products.
The substantial investment allows B&A Group to maximise its output and produce a range of recycled aggregates in line with its customers’ sustainability objectives.
Supplied by Blue Machinery (Southern) Ltd, the crusher replaces the Group’s three-year-old Powerscreen R400 Jaw Crusher.
Kevin Bogira, group fleet engineer for B&A Group, says: “We have had a good service from our Powerscreen equipment which has provided us excellent availability, production and performance.
“It made sense this time to upgrade and take advantage of the new developments of the new Powerscreen Premiertrack R400X. Blue Machinery (Southern) supplied a new machine and we were up and running on our new site in no time.”
Featuring a hydraulic release draw and side fines conveyor, the Premiertrak R400X can be controlled remotely using a telematics system that helps to optimise the crushing and screening operation.
Material produced by the machine is sent on by B&A Group for use in applications such as road engineering and pipe bedding.
The investment comes as B&A Group looks to develop its impressive Hallen facility into the largest aggregates and soil treatment facility in the South West.
Martin Yarde, sales manager for Blue Machinery, says: “B&A Group have experienced a great return from their old Premiertrak R400 and saw the new Premiertrack R400X as a great investment with the new upgraded specification.
“Depending on feedstock and jaw settings the Premiertrak R400X can easily achieve 300-400tph and produce circa 3,000-4,000 tones in an average day. It will ensure continued performance, production and availability and provide maximum fuel efficiency to give B&A Group and its customers the best all round value.”
