Three members of staff are celebrating their 10-year milestone at the B&A Group.

Over the last decade, Pete Denyard, Nikki Hawking and Helen Griffin have been instrumental in growing the company from small acorns into the well-established business it is today.

Helen Griffin

Helen, B&A Group’s Environment and Health and Safety Manager, is responsible for securing environmental permits and planning permission while also leading on health, safety and regulatory compliance for the organisation.

Since starting her career with us, Helen’s key achievements include project managing the construction of B&A’s soil treatment facility, head office and workshop in Hallen and becoming a Chartered Waste Manager in 2016. Before her appointment at B&A Group, Helen worked as a local authority officer and as a consultant specialising in the redevelopment of contaminated sites.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my 10 years”, says Helen. “The company has grown hugely in that time, with significant investment in our main facility in Hallen. The company is dynamic fast-moving and progressive, so there is never a dull day.”

Pete Denyard

Also celebrating a decade with the business is Pete Denyard, who has progressed from weighbridge assistant for Bristol & Avon Waste Management Ltd to the B&A Group’s accounts department manager, achieving his AAT qualifications.

Pete is in charge of the finance teams and also works closely with our accountants and department managers to ensure key information is captured before it’s used in the company’s weekly and monthly financial updates.

Throughout the years, Pete has continued to maintain positive supplier and sub-contractor relationships by helping to customise accounting practices within the department to ensure tasks are carried out more efficiently.

“Pete has a great understanding of the business,” remarks, Clare Berkely, Finance Director at B&A Group. “The experience he has gained with us, especially throughout recent years of growth and expansion, is invaluable. He is a highly respected manager, creates an excellent dynamic within the team and continues to add to the successful future of our company.”

Nicki Hawking

Meanwhile, B&A Group’s Credit Controller, Nicki Hawking, reached her 10-year tenure last month (November), which coincided with winning our bonfire night hamper in aid of Meningitis Now.

Nicki works at our Hallen premises, tasked with collecting outstanding debts, processing credit applications and setting credit limits for external clients across Bristol and Avon Transport & Recycling Ltd and Bristol and Avon Waste Management Ltd.

Aside from her strong work ethic, Nicki is an avid supporter of our aforementioned charity and has participated in many bake sales and various events over the years; including a 50k step challenge walking from Yatton to Cheddar and back along the strawberry line, where she raised over £200.

Summarising her time at B&A Group so far, she said: “it’s gone so quickly it doesn’t feel like 10 years, so I must be enjoying it”, Nicki laughed. “It’s the people here that make B&A Group such a friendly and pleasant place to work.”

We are immensely proud of our staff’s contributions so far and would like to once again congratulate Nicki, Pete and Helen for growing our company footprint during their time with us. Well done guys!
