November Meningitis Now Update

25/11/2019
BRISTOL HALF MARATHON

B&A Group are excited to announce that as of this week, our fundraising total for Meningitis Now has reached £75,330.24, meaning we are more than ¾ of the way to our £100k pledge!

Over the last few months, we have been involved in running and participating in several exciting events, both in and out of the office, in a bid to boost our fundraising efforts for this important cause. They include:

On Sunday 15th September, 10 brave members of the B&A Group team took on the challenge of running 13.1 miles for Meningitis Now. Wearing bright orange shirts featuring the B&A Group and Meningitis Now logos, the team took part in the ENGIE Business Challenge, raising over £6,100 towards Meningitis Now.

LONGLEAT SKY SAFARI

HOT AIR BALLOON:

Following the success of its debut at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta, our G-Jima balloon made a spectacular appearance at the annual Longleat Sky Safari. Taking place over the course of a glorious September weekend, G-Jima was involved in the hotly anticipated first glow and daily flights across the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire. With the Meningitis Now logo proudly emblazoned across the side of the balloon, the event was a fantastic way to raise awareness of the charity and its vital mission.

It was wonderful to see G-Jima featured in Aerostat: the official magazine of the British Balloon and Airship Club. The Sky Safari is set to be featured in the magazine’s December edition as well.

POP UP MEXICAN THEMED CAFE

We’ve also been busy at the B&A Group headquarters, with a pop up Mexican themed cafe earlier this month, in keeping with the traditional Mexican Day of the Dead. The cafe raised £140 for Meningitis Now, with a Mexican themed lunch, plus a hamper prize containing a variety of Mexican goodies, won by our Environmental Engineer, Paul Pritchard.

MEAT HAMPER RAFFLE

Thanks to a generous donation, courtesy of local farmer Steve Moorlen, we were able to run a raffle with first prize being a meat hamper, featuring a selection of choice cuts from Steve’s herd of Hereford cattle. The raffle was a huge success, raising £170. Well done to WTN processing team member Shauna, who won the hamper.

We also run a regular in house tuckshop here at B&A Group, which is very popular with our staff; the proceeds from which go towards our fundraising total.

We’d also like to thank Hallen Parish for their kind donation of £50. They generously donated the petrol money from their recent trip to go towards our fundraising for Meningitis Now.

There are a few more events happening at B&A Group this season to help us get closer to our fundraising target. They include:

  • Office Christmas Jumper Day (3rd December)
  • Christmas Pop Up Cafe
  • Christmas Hamper

A special mention goes to the Hallen Village Christmas Arts & Crafts Fayre, taking place on Sunday 1st December. Alongside a variety of stalls from local arts and crafters and a visit from Mother Christmas, B&A Group will be there to hand out meningitis symptom cards and spread the word, with hot punch and cake. We’re also donating a hamper for the event. Visit the Hallen Village Hall website to learn more.

There will also be a carol concert, taking place at Gloucester Cathedral on Monday 16th December, raising money for Meningitis Now. You can purchase tickets from the Meningitis Now website.
